I got the most peculiar email the other day. In my Muirend-cinema-Frantic efforts to find a job with the minimum of effort and interaction, I signed up to the recruitment website, Reed.co.uk. Not really expecting to hear anything (considering that I've already been turned away from the agency on Hope Street), I nevertheless applied for a position in telemarketing. I received an email yesterday:
Thank you for your recent on-line application. Could you please contact
me on [a telephone number] to discuss your career requirements.
I don't really know what that means. However, I shall phone my correspondant tomorrow, and see what he is offering. I don't even know if it is a bulk email, because it is addressed only to me (in the To: line), but it doesn't mention my name in the body. I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
Derek.
