Blog Announcing GUFF 13/Sep/2004

Having been in exile for the last ten weeks, I've not been able to scratch my development itch. I'm back now, and I present the first fruit: GUFF.

GUFF aggregates feeds (RSS and Atom), displays them on a page, and provides Atom and RSS 2.0 feeds of the aggregated posts. The feeds are and will all be from students and alumni of the University of Glasgow. It's not a new concept, by any stretch of the imagination, but I felt that the blogosphere hereabouts has been growing towards critical mass in the past few months, and this should, hopefully, stimulate it further.

Eventually, I intend to publish the source, but it's not nearly at that stage yet. However, very much unlike this site, it should prove to be rather more maintainable, as I've made judicious use of PHP's object-oriented features and web standards (it validates!). News should follow in a couple of weeks.

If you fall into the target community, please submit your blog, and help GUFF to grow.

Cheers,

Derek.
